Meet our principal

Jennifer L. Reid

Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Gary, Indiana, Ms. Jennifer L. Reid is a proud native of the Midwest. Ms. Reid earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia in 2007. She began her career in education as a Teach for America corps member teaching third & fourth grades at M.W. Dogan Elementary School in Houston’s Fifth Ward community.  Shortly after her time in Houston, Ms. Reid relocated to Philadelphia to earn a Master’s of Science in Education Administration at the University of Pennsylvania. While there, she worked as an intern principal at Northwood Academy. In 2010, she founded her own teen girl empowerment summit, later named the “I AM SHERO” Summit. This annual program is designed to empower & educate teen girls and is now currently hosted at Rauner College Prep.

She moved to Chicago to work as the ninth grade civics teacher where she served for three years at Rauner College Prep. She has served as a team leader, advisor, & a network instructional coach. Ms. Reid served as the Network’s first diversity recruiter in 2012. Reid was named principal of Rauner College Prep in July 2013, the youngest principal of the Noble Network of Charter Schools to date. An active member of the community, Ms. Reid is a proud member of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and other service-based organizations. Ms. Reid’s passion for education, equality, & empowerment is contagious and it is her hope that Rauner College Prep develops scholars who will one day return to lead and transform their own community.
